Making Social Inclusion Work: a course that improves your work
with excluded people
|
| Red Kite partners
have a respected background in working with groups and individuals
who have been excluded from mainstream society. We have worked on
inner city estates, for voluntary organisations, public sector organisations,
and rural areas. We know that class, poverty, disability, poor literacy
and education, remain major barriers. |
|

|
Organisations want to address the issues
and increase the ability of their workers to challenge exclusion.
However, it is not easy, and while there may be a lot of theoretical
work done on this complex issue it is rare for practical, skilled,
front line workers to provide a course that will genuinely assist
others to achieve better results in challenging oppression and exclusion.
|
Red Kite
have created such a course. We use a mixture of tools - handouts for
theoretical knowledge, group work and Action Learning. This ensures
that the course does not stay in 'a vacuum' but becomes immediately
relevant to your needs and the work you wish to undertake. It also
allows participants to explore their own issues and move towards solutions.
|
|
It provides:
| |
 |
New ideas |
 |
A new support network |
 |
Examples of good practice |
 |
A place to plan the next steps in your inclusion
strategy |
 |
Time to reflect on the
effects of your organisation's structure on the delivery of
the work |
|
|
These are some of the questions participants bring to the Action
Learning Sets:
| |
 |
Are we providing the right conditions
to include new types of people? |
| |
 |
It's not working and I'm exhausted - what next? |
| |
 |
How do I get my committee/boss to show an interest
in this inclusion work? |
| |
 |
Are we trying to include more people than we can
handle? |
| |
 |
I'm trying to include young people in the running
of the organisation, but we're all over 40 - what now? |
|
| Red Kite can
run Making Social Inclusion Work in your organisation or as
a course involving several organisations. |
|
These are some of the things participants have said:
| "congratulations on devising a lateral thinking
course. The only training I've ever attended that takes a holistic
approach to work and worker". |
|
| "I feel it has empowered me to confront issues". |
| "It has helped me to analyse the work I do
in the context of my overall aims/goals". |
| "the benefits will become even
more apparent over time, especially in terms of personal development
and reflective practice". |
|
| Gail and
Pippa would be pleased
to talk to you about how the course can assist you in your work.
